Wim / Task Sequence / Gold Image - Fight....

Hi Everyone.

 

So at present we are running 1709 (we have been doing an in-place upgrade via WSUS with a post install OOBE to remove the UWP apps since 1511) - works well for circa 2500 devices, however we are now going to have a re-think for 1803 especially as a school we have just took over has Win7 and we want to move it to Win10 so taking the opportunity to look at this fresh.

 

So just seeing what others are doing; as our options as we see it

 

a. Continue with a Gold Image (im leaning towards not doing this again!)

We currently use Audit Mode to create a gold image with all the apps installed then capture and deploy via MDT. Works well especially as we use Mandatory Profiles.

 

b. Win10 and remove certain UWP apps via a Task Sequence

 

c. Repackage the WIM with all the UWP removed.

Seems to be the majority on here I think.

 

The school currently use Roaming Profiles for Staff and No Profile for Students (except basic folder redirection) and its not really working that well, so debating UE-V or just complete folder redirection.

 

I know this is a broad question but if you were going in somewhere new.... what would you do OS and Profile Wise......
