As the title says I wondered if anyone here has made the change from Network Manager to School Business Manager?

I find myself preferring strategic planning and management more as my career has developed. I reached Network Manager at a fairly young age due to events in the schools I have worked in but I like a challenge and to continue learning. School Business Manager seems to offer a step up in leadership and pay scale. I know I could work in private sector but I enjoy working in a school environment and holidays make childcare much easier.

Just wondered if anyone has made a similar move?

Yes, there’s definitely someone on here who’s done it.

@nickbro possibly?

I moved to Assistant Bursar for a while, but it wasn’t my cup of tea really.

Yeah I did. Kinda hate it personally. But that might just be my school environment

Haha good to know. Anything in particular that makes you not like it? Is it the type of work or people? Cheers

It's the not being listened to half the time. People still sometimes see me as an it tech. It's a lot of work.

This is partly why when I was offered another position in the same school, I turned it down, you'd never get away from your original role.

I’d go with that too. But also dealing with the endless stream of woes from both parents and staff... it made the IT role seem easy!

I was at an independent and there’s nothing like being shouted at by parents angry about money (usually their fault not ours) to turn you off a role!
