Animation software suitable for Primary

I've had a request to get Flash (Pro - not player) installed on the network for a primary and their disappointment was rather palpable when I explained the licensing costs to them but it occurred to me that there must be something out there that's more suited to primaries and doesn't cost a great deal.

 

Has anyone got any suggestions of possible packages or places to look?

Last year i had the Year5's using powerpoint to make animations.

 

Also i spoke with the local Secondary and had the Year 4's use there ICT suite that has flash.

@Cooper: I hadn't considered getting access to the local secondary, although unfortunately the school is too far away and I doubt the head would swing for such an activity. Nice idea though.. thanks.

2Animate is probably the easiest program to use.

 

I've used Scratch with Year 5 to produce animations as well (just need to create each frame as a costume and have it animate on a simple

Also MS Gif Animator comes in handy at times when playing with animations.

Second vote for Pivot and for 2animate.

 

we have them here and they're nice little programs (esp. Pivot as it's free!)

Just watch out for what the kids create though.....

 

We've had some rather *ahem* rude/adult-based animations saved by year 6 pupils in the past!

You could also use Monkeyjam for animation. You can import a folder with drawings or use a camera.
