G Suite "Trying to connect. To edit offline, turn on offline sync when you reconnect"

Hi guys

Anybody else getting this with G Suite recently? Google Docs seems to go offline for around 10 seconds sporadically. It's enough for it to become a pain as sometimes it loses changes you have made. Other times you just cannot do anything.

Nothing has changed filter wise (Smoothwall) recently configuration wise. We did upgrade to Leeds 1 release of Smoothwall on 13th April but not sure that caused this.

Nothing obvious in firewall/filter logs grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

TIA

Hi all

Just for info really as I found a solution.

Called this into smoothwall and support agent was adamant it was not an issue with smoothwall. Agent whitelisted docs.google.com but issue remained. On my VM outside of SW there was no issue. Agent still adament it was us.

Turning off SSL inspection on docs.google.com did the trick but isn't ideal.

This was fine before moving to leeds-1 so something has changed in smoothwall to highlight this issue.

Let's see if I lose a support credit for fixing my own issue. Hope this helps someone else.

Mark

Sorry to raise an old thread

Did you ever find a fix for this @markwilfan

I am just dealing with this issue now - adding docs.google.com to the custom allowed list fixes it - but as you say it isn't ideal

Edit : Also on Leeds1

No worries - thanks for replying

We are moving away from Smoothwall in the summer so I will likely just leave it as it is for the 3 weeks left

Hi,

We are also having similar issues but with File Stream and it's our LA that controls Smoothwall. If I log a job with them what should I ask them to do / check?

Sorry to be a bit vague, but not being able to have access to Smoothwall settings etc makes asking any questions I have a bit bury.

For us it was putting docs.google.com into the custom allow list (which doesn't have decrypt and inspect done on it)
