witch Posted April 23, 2018 Posted April 23, 2018 Major cost cutting going on here - the school is not renewing their Twinkl subscription which has upset all the teachers as they use it all the time. We also use My Maths and I have said I will see if there is a free alternative to this - if they can not renew this year, they may be able to afford Twinkl Anyone got any ideas?
jmak Posted April 23, 2018 Posted April 23, 2018 Not free, but we moved from Mathletics to Abacus a couple of years ago to save money. It was about 1/3 of the price. 1
Ditto Posted May 5, 2018 Posted May 5, 2018 Not free, but we moved from Mathletics to Abacus a couple of years ago to save money. It was about 1/3 of the price. Which Abacus are you using this https://support.activelearnprimary.co.uk/resources/abacus.html or this Abacus - Your toolkit for the new primary maths curriculum? The Pearson has an odd pricing structure - the first year is much more - any ideas why?
jmak Posted May 5, 2018 Posted May 5, 2018 The second one looks much more like the one we use; as well as the planning resources for teachers there are online games and activities for the pupils. As for first year costs, I seem to remember that it included training. Our maths coordinator at the time just spent a day reviewing the resources and put together a guide for the other staff which she presented at a staff meeting. I think this brought the cost down to the same as a renewal. Always worth negotiating....
