snagrat Posted April 18, 2018 Posted April 18, 2018 I have moved Net2 Pro from one server to another. Prior to moving I upgrade the client from v4 to latest v5. However no somethings do not work as before. Firstly we can not open doors from the Open Door button with Net2. It registers the event but does not open door. Secondly, no token swipes are registered so when we do reports it shows no one as in. However all entry cards continue to work. Anyone know what might need to happen to get these things working again?
FN-GM Posted April 18, 2018 Posted April 18, 2018 Are you doors online (green tick) on the console? If so select them all and press re-instate. It will push out all the config back to the doors. You can try 1 out first if you like.
caffrey Posted April 18, 2018 Posted April 18, 2018 Are they registered using the net2 server configuration utility ?
snagrat Posted April 18, 2018 Author Posted April 18, 2018 They show in the Config Utility and it can ping them. In the console they show as not responding and have red crosses.
caffrey Posted April 18, 2018 Posted April 18, 2018 Does it say anything in the events for the doors ?
Katy Posted April 18, 2018 Posted April 18, 2018 When we've had issues powercycling the net2 units and re-instating from the console usually fixes it. (Any existing cards will carry on working with the units offline as they cache the config locally, although no new ones will work until the units return online) 1
snagrat Posted April 18, 2018 Author Posted April 18, 2018 No way to reboot the ACU via its IP address?
snagrat Posted April 18, 2018 Author Posted April 18, 2018 The server IP has changed. Would it be worth adding a second address of the old server?
Katy Posted April 18, 2018 Posted April 18, 2018 No way to reboot the ACU via its IP address? Don't know, we've never had enough playing up at the same time for visiting the ACU to be a problem. Wouldn't like to have to go to every one though...
Good_Idea Posted April 18, 2018 Posted April 18, 2018 When you upgrade from v4 to v5 each door controller firmware has to update. We found one of the door controllers stopped all the others from updating we had to switch off the power and disconnect the emergency battery to get them to reboot and take the firmware update.
snagrat Posted April 18, 2018 Author Posted April 18, 2018 Looks like I need to reboot them at the source then. I know where one is, just gotta find the other two.
Katy Posted April 18, 2018 Posted April 18, 2018 Looks like I need to reboot them at the source then. I know where one is, just gotta find the other two. Be thankful you only have three to do - we've got 27 of them, and you have to open them up to disconnect/reconnect the battery as well as turning the supply off to powercycle them
snagrat Posted April 18, 2018 Author Posted April 18, 2018 What does the tamper switch on them do? Not set an alarm off I hope?
Good_Idea Posted April 18, 2018 Posted April 18, 2018 Tamper switch shows up an alert on the PC console. Just don't accidentally open one of your intruder alarm boxes if they look the same....
Accura2k7 Posted April 19, 2018 Posted April 19, 2018 My advise, call Paxton. I have phoned them a couple of times and although they didnt do the install, i was told they will always support their products regardless. 2
SupportMark Posted April 19, 2018 Posted April 19, 2018 Be thankful you only have three to do - we've got 27 of them, and you have to open them up to disconnect/reconnect the battery as well as turning the supply off to powercycle them Try 318 doors! we also had issues moving servers and I suspect one of the doors stopped the rest updating... and because we have several VLANs powercycling the ACU's wasn't enough... we had to do a TCP/IP reset on most of them!! took three days to fix them all.
snagrat Posted April 19, 2018 Author Posted April 19, 2018 I presume resetting the ACU doesn’t lose any config as when connected back to the server it just pulls it down again. As long as the doors are not deleted from the console at any time
Katy Posted April 19, 2018 Posted April 19, 2018 I presume resetting the ACU doesn’t lose any config as when connected back to the server it just pulls it down again. As long as the doors are not deleted from the console at any time I'm fairly sure the local config cache on the ACU survives a powercycle, so in the event that it still can't talk to the server it'll be no worse off than before.
SupportMark Posted April 19, 2018 Posted April 19, 2018 Powercycling the ACU's doesnt delete any config off it. I suspect if the nodes are ticked on in the config utility and you give each ACU a powercycle they will come back with a green tick (they will show a server connected light above the link light on the ACU). Once they do come back they will update to the latest firmware, and then you will probably need to re-instate them to pull down the card data.
snagrat Posted April 20, 2018 Author Posted April 20, 2018 I’ve got them working again but not sure what I did in the end. However how my students have the wrong Access Level permission. Unsure what has gone wrong here but I need to change about 200 users. I can’t see a bulk way of doing it? Then I thought I would just change the access level but I cannot seem to be able to change one - only create new?
snagrat Posted April 20, 2018 Author Posted April 20, 2018 Oh found how to change in bulk now. That was easy enough
SupportMark Posted April 20, 2018 Posted April 20, 2018 Did you reinstate the doors? because we found that cards were being denied after the upgrade stating "Access level not valid" and reinstating the doors fixed it.
Bruce123 Posted June 3, 2021 Posted June 3, 2021 BUMP. After going from 4 to 6 the controllers are stuck on "update pending." Is there anything we can do to force the updates to apply (and controllers reboot)? I have already selected each node in the configuration utility and clicked Update firmware. Also, I notice that each node information it now shows 6. In Net2 itself all doors are shown with red crosses. I seem to recall an engineer saying Net2 tends to schedule the controller reboots out of hours (e.g. during the backup schedule) to minimize the interruption (not sure if during the reboot it leaves the lock open or closed). Thanks, Bruce.
Mr.Ben Posted June 3, 2021 Posted June 3, 2021 +1 for calling Paxton if the nodes are ticked. They are the most helpful company I know for supporting their products. 2
dmartin1018 Posted June 4, 2021 Posted June 4, 2021 I have exactly the same problem although I completely uninstalled my V6 as the database was corrupted beyond repair so did a complete reinstall with a blank database. All my doors won’t connect to the new one despite being ticked in the config utility. They all say update pending. I’ve even dropped the power on a couple to see if it helps but it didn’t. Left it overnight and hoping when I go in tomorrow it’s worked otherwise I’m going to be doomed for Monday as all the doors are locked shut! Paxton didn’t know what the issue was when I rang them earlier. Did you have any joy?
