caffrey Posted April 16, 2018 Posted April 16, 2018 How do you handle leavers and forwarding emails ? I don't really want to leave accounts open and use a forwarding address on the account Would just adding the old email address as an alias on the new user work ? It's a bit sensitive and I don't want to go digging about in accounts if I can help it
RLR Posted April 16, 2018 Posted April 16, 2018 You can do it from the admin console: Apps > G Suite > Gmail > Default Routing > Add Setting > Enter email address of leaver > Change Envelope Recipient > (Optional) Preprend Custom Subject (we use this to let the new user know it came in via the leavers email address) > Perform on non-recognized address > Save. 1
caffrey Posted April 16, 2018 Author Posted April 16, 2018 I thought that too, but this confused me https://support.google.com/a/answer/175745?hl=en Notes: You can't forward email to email addresses hosted by G Suite (which includes other addresses in your domain), unless the domain of the destination email address uses an external mail relay or third-party mail service. To forward a user's email to a G Suite address, ask the user to set up a forwarding address in their Gmail account. I'll give your way a go thanks
rob_coles Posted April 16, 2018 Posted April 16, 2018 Never used this but looked interesting. For students. https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/6386856
caffrey Posted April 16, 2018 Author Posted April 16, 2018 I'd like a nice way to archive leavers too
