Backing up Server nodes that are part of a cluster

Hi All

 

I’ve been pondering on this one for a while.

 

Is there anyone out there actually backing there clustered server nodes up.

 

Many say when researching this that it is not necessary as you just evict, rebuild, then add the node back to the cluster if a failure occurs on one of them.

 

I sort of feel that getting a backup of the node would be good practice to speed up the recovery when needing to rebuild.

 

What do others do in this situation?

 

Do you use windows backup, the free Veeam agent, something else or nothing?

We have 9 physical servers in our cluster and none are backed up. A recovery IMO takes almost as long as a full rebuild in most cases - a couple of hours with an OS install disk/USB and configuration steps that have been documented are just as good, and it's always good to start from scratch unless there is anything specific on the machine that needs recovering.
