Linux is best on most things ;-)

linux may be but ubuntu did severly slow down my old old laptop compared to XP. In all fairness it was never going to be fast with 64mb of ram and 14 of that utalisted in the GPU! Had to use an alternate installer as the live CD had to high requirements! I remember it took 15 minutes for it to load up and open firefox

If he is getting a 360 and PS3 there is no point in doing anything with the Xbox, its old and putting Linux on it is well, pointless.

But you can put Linux on the PS3 :)

I read somewhere that Sony has a Linux dev for the PS3. Yellowdog i think it was and the PS 3 fully supports it. I never read about it in-depth as i will probably never own a PS3.

Yeah, Ive also heard about this somewhere, although most Console owners wont want to because of the simple fact that they are Console gamers, they enjoy what they get in their plastic box..with the only concept of 'upgrade' being a new faceplate or so..:drunken_smilie:

I think it was more to help stop the homebrew folks hackin the crap out of the machine. With the ps3's hdd easily upgradable in size you should be able to stick Linux on a decent sized space. What you can do with it afterwards though I don't know.
