vmkdump folder datastores

Hi,

 

I have asked VMware this directly as well but on a few of our vmware datastores we have a vmkdump folder containing a couple of files not modified since 2015. They are close to 1TB in space and if possible I'd like to clear them up.

 

Does anyone know what these are used for and if it is safe to delete them?

Thank you so they can be removed no problem both active/inactive.

 

Do you know what causes these to be created?

Y they aren't linked to a particular active VM. Do read up on it first. I've deleted them before without issue.

 

You may be different. e.g. don't do it on my say so.

 

I'd get support to walk you through it if I were you. They can certainly be removed though.
