If site uses G Suite Additional Services, what's the out-of-the-box state?

1. Am I correct to think Additional Services is on by default (YouTube, Blogger, Google Analytics). And that admins must turn these services off for users by accessing Additional Google services in the Google Admin console — or is it off by default?

2. DoubleClick on or off by default for staff and pupils (grouped as organisational units) (Believe they can be switched off by the administrator but what’s the out-of-the-box state?)

3. In practice, do you [and if you do how do you] get consent? If so, what are the options usually -- opt in, or opt out?

From parents

From pupils

Opt in

Opt out

By each part of the service ie YouTube but not Blogger or is it all or nothing.

I have just created a G Suite domain with all settings currently still at default so ;

1. All additional services are off except Chrome Web Store & Google Search Console

2. DoubleClick off by default

3. We have a permissions page in the Admissions booklet which lists all the Core Google Apps we use so Parents sign it off. Older students get access to Youtube and Blogger too.

Thanks -- for the access to Youtube and Blogger, is there any opt-out or opt-in choice for the children/parents? Basically trying to work out how this is easiest presented to schools compared with what you do now. Addtnl services must be consent based even today according to Ggl terms -- which means isn't tick-box but freely given, can say no -- and therefore I'm looking to understand what effect it would have if schools are not doing that today, and what a consent form would look like.

For Blogger a letter was sent to parents explaining why Blogger was required for the Y12-Y13 students. At the bottom was a reply slip, give or do not give consent. No one said no. I think the same was done for Youtube.

Sorry if you already know this, or it isn't the problem you are trying to solve: when you have youtube on a Google domain, all the video is restricted unless it's educational or has been pre-approved by teachers who approve video by logging into youtube. We don't use any opt out option because it's all restricted. https://support.google.com/a/answer/6214622?hl=en

Thanks -- all advice and comments help my understanding -- (now wearing a parent hat, what I don't get, is how my own 11 yo can watch and comment on pop videos on a home computer logged into her school user Ggl account.)

We have comments switched off via our content filter for those who can access youtube. Have never tried logging in as a student from home so will try that tonight.
