[ms office - 2016] BASIC Basic Deployment - No 365/One Drive?

Hello all, this is my first foray into this so please be kind! Bracing myself...

 

Looking to deploy Office 2016 to Windows 7 clients, but I'd very much like to avoid any Office 365 or any One Drive integration. We use Gmail for email, so I'll also be removing Outlook, but I can probably manage that.

 

Is it easy enough to 'get out of bed' of 365/One Drive or indeed any online anything-ness with it, either with GP options or .mst/installer switches?

 

Am I demonstrating a big misunderstanding of anything my even asking the above?

Use the Office Deployment Tool to remove OneDrive components from the Office installation.

Configure Office ADMX files \ GPOs to prevent access to OneDrive features

 

Should be pretty good to go from there

Once ODT has been used to configure the install and the xml is updated, what is the best way to actually deploy Office 2016?

Office Deployment Tool can be used but this will not produce a msi? I have heard that some schools us SCCM. Would this be the best method to use and if so, how and where can I get this? I am using server 2012

SCCM if you have it or MDT Application at image time or alternative deployment solution (have heard PDQ Deploy mentioned a fair bit on here with good feedback)

I don't believe we do have SCCM. How could I go about getting this?

 

I have an MDT image, but it is just a Windows 10 1803 image, there is nothing added to it. Are there any guides on how to add office to it?

 

I had been using PDQ for a while, but then it just stopped working, and couldn't get any answers as to what was causing it.

If you don't have SCCM, I would warn that it's not a step to be taken lightly, or cheaply. It's a big system that is designed to deal with OS and software deployment as well as updates.

 

Office can be installed with a command line along the lines of "setup.exe /adminfile Custom.msp", which should be fairly easy to put into a startup script, or whatever your usual deployment method is. It's a long install though.

 

With regards to O365 and OneDrive, we use the following group policy settings to disable access. I found I couldn't remove OneDrive from my build no matter how I tried!
