Bert123 Posted March 16, 2018 Posted March 16, 2018 Hi I am looking for recommendations for asset tracking software, anyone got any suggestions?
manamaga2512 Posted March 19, 2018 Posted March 19, 2018 It would depend what features you're looking for exactly but we use asset tiger. And it's free :-D 1
willtech Posted March 19, 2018 Posted March 19, 2018 GLPI - GLPI - Gestionnaire libre de parc informatique Snipe-it - https://snipeitapp.com/
Fazza Posted March 20, 2018 Posted March 20, 2018 Snipe-IT - just started using this after a 6 month test on tracking a small group of laptops and it worked really well showing us the complete history over the 6 months of who had what laptop and for what period of time. It now has over 1050 assets on it from our former spreadsheet. You can add custom fields very easily to it so we shall also be using it to track the last PAT test date so we can easily work out when someones kit is due for a re-test. I've yet to put on our mobiles phones but that will be easy as I'll just create a few new fields to include the IMEI and mobile numbers etc. and then we'll be able to make the old spreadsheet Read Only! All we have to do now is to remember to keep it up to date!...

Garacesh Posted March 22, 2018 Posted March 22, 2018 We use Wasp. The barcode-scanner we have gathers dust, but as an asset management tool it works.

Fazza Posted March 29, 2018 Posted March 29, 2018 Yes it is customisable. You can add different fields and then associate them with a Fieldset that you create. For example I've just added Mobile Phones and created custom fields called Phone Number, IMEI, Carrier and you can also easily created drop-down menus as the choice so I've set a field up that says Contract and PAYG and you select the option from the drop down list. If you set a field as a date when you click in the field a little calendar pops up also. I've then created a Field Set called Mobile Phones and added the fields I mentioned above to it and when you add a new model you can select any of the fieldsets that you've created so when you add a mobile phone it will ask for IMEI number but when adding a Laptop it wont as it's not part of my IT Equipemtn fieldset that I created.
Fazza Posted April 20, 2018 Posted April 20, 2018 Can I ask if the GDPR legislation is relevant to the choice? If (like us) you use Snipe-IT then you need to ensure you implement an SSL certificate on the server so you use https instead of http.
cakerino Posted April 26, 2018 Posted April 26, 2018 Another one for Snipe, works really well for us.
