Chriss31 Posted March 14, 2018 Posted March 14, 2018 Hi all Been using the SIMS Teacher app for a few years now, but as of last week it's stopped working. When I check SIMS Services Manager, it seems stuck on "Transitioning" on the Login Service for Teacher App section. Capita have been predictably useful and suggested I restart the SSM service (obviously done). Their only other advice is to reinstall SSM, which I really don't want to have to do as it's used by another service as well. Has anyone else had this issue, and if so is there a fix? Many thanks Chriss
Mugenshi Posted March 14, 2018 Posted March 14, 2018 Hey Chriss is there anything obvious showing up in the log files? Could be a certificate error.
Chriss31 Posted March 14, 2018 Author Posted March 14, 2018 Hey Chriss is there anything obvious showing up in the log files? Could be a certificate error. I think you may be right. The log file has this: "Could not establish trust relationship for the SSL/TLS secure channel with authority 'www.simsteacherappactivation.co.uk'. ---> System.Net.WebException: The underlying connection was closed: Could not establish trust relationship for the SSL/TLS secure channel. ---> System.Security.Authentication.AuthenticationException: The remote certificate is invalid according to the validation procedure."
Mugenshi Posted March 14, 2018 Posted March 14, 2018 Do you go through any web filtering like smoothwall? Regardless it might be worth taking a look at the this MSDN article (Though a bit out dated should have some relevance) https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/jpsanders/2009/09/16/troubleshooting-asp-net-the-remote-certificate-is-invalid-according-to-the-validation-procedure/
Chriss31 Posted March 16, 2018 Author Posted March 16, 2018 We use Trend Micro for our web filtering but nothing has changed and we've been using it successfully for a few years now. I've sent a portion of the log file to Capita. No response yet
S1MSMAN Posted January 17, 2019 Posted January 17, 2019 Hi Chris, We have the same issue at one of our schools. I've logged a case with Capita. Did you get to the bottom of this issue? Thanks
Esteban_Child_of_the_Sun Posted January 17, 2019 Posted January 17, 2019 We have several schools using the Teacher App and they are all working. This may be related to a similar post about TLS, have you enabled TLS1.2 in SSM as it may be that Capita has finally turned off TLS1.0 on their end?
