So I've been looking into getting rid of this pesky program, as I don't fancy the kids having a way to potentially download 2gb of app data onto a PC at the touch of a button. We've recently moved from the LTSB build to 1709 after having trouble with start menus, and we've managed to strip away all the needed apps except for the following:

  • Mixed Reality Portal
  • Windows Defender
  • Settings

I'm not looking to necessarily uninstall these programs, but simply get them off the start menu.

Any and all help appreciated.

Doesn't seem to be any "supported" ways to do it, We've just added them to AppLocker to block them

I couldn't seem to find an application name to feed AppLocker for the Reality View Portal, unless it's named something vague and non-descriptive and I'm just being blind?

If you do it from Windows 10 via local gpedit it'll show them all when you click and then use those :p

Mixed Reality Portal = Microsoft.Windows.HolographicFirstRun

There is a way to prevent the app being provisioned - totally unsupported I should add.

Basically, remove the Microsoft.Windows.HolographicFirstRun.... subkey from this location

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Appx\AppxAllUserStore\InboxApplications

and it will be skipped during first login of any user.

@Arthur was the one who first told me about that method.
