FMS - Actual Salary Import

Afternoon All,

 

I would like to look at creating a salary import file to make the posting of salaries quicker.

 

The LA currently manage payroll and therefore provide us with the salary file and at this current time salaries are block posted.

 

I believe that the file has to a csv file type. The information is currently within excel and therefore I am should be able to get this into the relevant format to allow for upload.

 

Would anyone be able to assist with the format required and how I would upload both block and individual salary journals please.

The import file from a flat file is straight forwards - within FMS you define what parts of the strings are where in the import file. (At least that was how it worked when I was there!)

Contact your payroll provider, they should be able to provide the file in the correct format and have the required FMS settings. If they don't, don't attempt to do it yourself! Switch payroll providers if they refuse to work with Capita to get the FMS settings to import the file.

 

Reason begin you need to payroll provider to agree they will always send the file in the correct format. If you get the FMS settings incorrect and it imports - what Phil fails to tell you - is that you'll be liable to a large Capita bill to write a patch to fix it and lots of questions from the auditors for the next few years about it.

 

Seriously, if a payroll provider is aimed at schools it should be able to interface with FMS!
