Xerox Printing - Page Limit

Hi,

 

I'm Tom and I am an IT Tech at a secondary school in Essex. We have an issue where we cannot set a page limit on the Xerox printers on site. We use Xerox WorkCentre 6655 printers. We use PaperCut to manage our printing. If anyone knows how to set a page limit (as setting restrictions on PaperCut does nothing) that would be extremely helpful.

Have you tried paper cut support. They usually are quite good at working out why their product isn't working.

 

When you say page limit do you mean if students print a document over 10 pages long cancel it, for example?

Hi,

 

Our support contract has ended with them so we cannot ask for help. Yeah exactly that so if they want to print a 10 page document it wouldn't allow them to.

Are you sure your printer spooler is being fed by papercut?

Normally it's before it gets sent to the printer that the restriction is put in place, not handled by the printer itself. If the restriction is being bypassed has the user added the printer by ip address directly?

Is the client not promoting them? Have you disabled the option? Any scripst overriding anything?

Is papercut managing everything - in terms of logging etc

first of all - is papercut tracking the print jobs? send a print, check print or user logs - did the job get tracked? if so thats a great start

 

what restriction are you applying? are you only applying it to restricted users (if so..are your users restricted?)

 

Is papercut getting the job detection correct, lets pretend papercut gets it wrong and things its 0 or 1 pages so your restriction wont kick in. What does the job log for a tracked job show, is it correct?
