Toshiba Laptop will not remember its display settings.

We have a couple of classrooms where the whiteboards (smartboards) are run by Toshiba Satalite Pro laptops. In one room the laptop refuses to remeber its display settings after a reboot. In paticular it wont remember to send its display to the external VGA for the projector. In the other room with an identical setup (at least until I started fiddling) the other laptop has zero problems.

I have tried:

1. Upgrading the drivers.

2. Downgrading the drivers.

3. Removing the Toshiba Tools.

4. Reinstalling the Toshiba Tools.

5. Educating the teachers about the Function-F5 voodoo.

None of these solutions have worked and I regularly get asked to look at it because its 'broken'.

Ive had similar problems in the past, if you want to force it to output to both screens there should be a setting in the bios along the lines of "Display Device" and the option is by default "Auto" just change it to "both" and hopefully it should do so in windows.

Got back to this laptop today. I found the bios setting (after getting in the dam bios, its hold ESC then press F1 when prompted) and gave it back to the teacher. She'll try it out tomorrow. :)
