GDPR - IT Audit - DPO - Qualifications

I was just wondering what approach you are all taking?

 

Do any of you have an IT audit qualification?

 

Do you require any qualifications for your nominated DPO

 

If you are going down the qualification route, which one(s)

 

How are you approaching this task?

Professional experience rather than any particular qualification. We're appointing a known member of staff though. If we'd recruited externally we might have done it differently.

The guidance from the ICO is very much looking at professional experience and knowledge of your particular establishment.

 

There are a number of training providers offering qualifications to what they are calling foundation and practitioner level but these are not official qualifications in any way and they all seem to be self-administered. Whilst the training provided to obtain the “qualification” may be useful the bit of paper at the end has little real value.
