Internet Explorer History problems

I'm having a problem enabling access to internet history in IE11 for staff. Currently, if they go to history, they only see "Search History" with no entries. When logging in as admin, I see the history as I would expect it with the various search filters (view by date / most visited etc.).

 

I'm struggling to find the setting that my predecessor has used to restrict this - even Google isn't giving me the answers I need.

 

As I've tried with both a mandatory and a new roaming profile, I can only presume it's a GPO or a script being run but just can't locate it.

 

Can anyone suggest how this could have been done

Well normally it'd either be a delete on exit so its deleting it, but if thats the case it should still show history while logged on?

 

If it's showing nothing have you checked permissions on the history folder in appdata in case they've done something to that?

Even while the session is open, there is no history being shown so it's def not delete on exit

 

The history folder in the local version of the roaming profile has the same permissions as the rest of the profile (inherited) so can't see any issue there. I find it strange that the filter only shows the one option

It should have system attrib too that will upset it if not, on the actual folder not the permission.

 

Also a desktop.ini inside the folder (I know some places like to delete them to get around fixing permissions properly on renaming folders )

Thanks again Steve - it was the missing system attribute. Not sure why it's creating the profile without it, but a quick login script is resolving it.

 

Just on the offchance, there isn't a quick way for history to be stored within the roaming profile so our SBM can get her history from any PC in school?

Well you can redirect AppData etc, but then you'll pull a lot of rubbish over too Depends how much you want.

 

If it's just for the one user you can do a bit of bodgery in her registry so only her one points to "the wrong place" as such, but really if it's that important shouldn't she just be using favourites? Then those follow easily
