Dos_Box Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 Just logged onto the office switch for the first time in at least 18 months to see that it has been running continuously for 629 days now! Can anyone beat that? Do you have a piece of hardware that simply keeps going or cannot be switched off for fear that it won't start again?
ShellfishClive Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 The longest I have that I can think of is our wireless Cisco controller at 186 days. It's not too bad.
Katy Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 633 days on three switches (in a cab we hardly ever touch as it's in a very awkward place, and we skipped it when doing the 10gig upgrades). Worryingly the core switch is showing as 22 days, I don't remember rebooting it 22 days ago.... Probably getting on for 5 years on the main SAN, I think it last powered off when we had a whole site power down for a new building to be connected in 2013 - but it won't tell me its uptime
TIOAOA Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 Does my brain count ? Seriously though I have a very inaccessible edge switch that according to the web interface has been running for 912 days 56 minutes 1
AJWhite1970 Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 I had a Netware 4 server back in the day that was up over 1000 days before I had to move it, it was a NDS replica server for an outreach office. Nothing here has been up more than than 35 days as we had a major 4 postcode wide power cut in the city that took everything out for over 2 hours!!!
ShellfishClive Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 Everyone seems to have better uptime than me, mine just don't last that long.
Domino Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 So.. "Hey everyone, post your unpatched kit" ? 4
Dos_Box Posted February 27, 2018 Author Posted February 27, 2018 So.. "Hey everyone, post your unpatched kit" ? The last release for this switch was 8 years ago!
ShellfishClive Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 The last release for this switch was 8 years ago! So why hasn't it been up for 8 years? Must be faulty...
FN-GM Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 So.. "Hey everyone, post your unpatched kit" ? That's what I am thinking. Even switches need software updates. The OpenSSL vulnerability for example.
Jamman960 Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 It’s a shame all these devices don’t log overall uptime or downtime themselves, our uptimes tend to get trashed by updates
mikeyw Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 (edited) Little old Netapp... Uptime: 2750 days 8 hours 29 minutes.... (7.5 Years) Edited February 27, 2018 by mikeyw
jthompson Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 No, but I know from Check_MK that a number of my switches recently hit 497 days, the highest I've got on record. I can also tell that some are rebooting regularly, which probably warrants closer inspection. A little way off breaking any records at present.
newpersn Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 One of first hyper-v servers had a update of 2 years until we got hit with ransomware. . All the vms was patched. Anyone know how to view an uptime of a xp box?
