Visualiser recommendations

We've just bought a couple of visualisers to try out, the Hue HD Pro at £45 and the US AVI U600L at £100. The U600L is a clear winner between the two, with higher resolution, auto-focus and simple zoom, but you might expect that for the price. Can anyone recommend a mid-point between these? Needs to have a flexible neck on it. I don't want to get lots of the Hue for them to sit in a cupboard unloved, but the department in question can't afford to put the other one in every classroom and they don't want to share between rooms. From experience - the Hue cameras are absolute ****, and they don't last when they are being used. As a result, they end up being £45 paper weights.

 

Couple of things though - are you a primary or a secondary? I know primary schools use them quite a lot, but from experience, they go into a room in secondary, and then are used for the first half term or so, and then are buried under a massive mountain of unmarked books/essays/work/paper that should have gone into recycling and never has etc etc, and it then becomes too much hassle.

We're a secondary. Quality is important for the uses planned - Science teacher would like to cast a practical on the screen so the class can see more clearly what is happening, Maths want to show the teacher drawing graphs, so both quite fine detail.

 

I'll certainly be steering the teachers away from the Hue (even if Hue can fix the issue with zoom not working), but was hoping for something in between the two price points I've got so far.

Have a look at the Elmo MX1 - it costs a fair bit, and is USB, but, I've found the software good, and the image quality is great IMO

We have the IpEvo Ziggis throughout - the best ones we've used so far £82 via amazon.

For Science at least, we need a flexible arm on them as they want to show practicals. Maths might be able to use that though, as they just want to project things which are flat on the desk. Art and Music also interested so they can show technique in closer detail, e.g. position the camera above the teacher's hands while they're drawing

Maybe a webcam on a mini tripod would be better/more cost effective for science?

Not bought a visualiser for a few years, but was paying about £200 ex VAT for them in 2016 through an account manager, but can be found for less than £270 ex VAT each at AV Parts, so probably worth seeing how much an account manager can get it for? https://www.avpartsmaster.co.uk/p-68083-elmo-mx-1-visualiser-4k-ultra-hd-compact-document-camera.aspx - but they are easily move-able which meant we bought one for the 3 departments that wanted one - Art, MFL and Humanities. That way, it reduced the chances of staff just burying them!

Recently tested AVer U50 Visualiser. Strong a sturdy with a flexible arm. Would recommend.

We had a faculty buy 2 or 3 IPEVO ones (~£100) which seemed impressive and very portable. USB, and could be used using windows 10 native camera app straight out of the box, although it did come with it's own software too for more features.

Ipevo are some of the best visualisers we tested. Unfortunately suppliers saying they seem to be end of life. New models coming but with a higher price.
