Bruce123 Posted February 11, 2018 Posted February 11, 2018 Hi, I just wonder what leaver process IT departments are following when staff leave employment, in relation to user's mailboxes and OneDrive contents? Simply deleting the AD account will trigger the deletion of the mailbox. Apparently you have up to 30 days in which to recover it before it/contents become unrecoverable. Thanks, Bruce.
kevin_lane Posted February 11, 2018 Posted February 11, 2018 Yea but you should be able to archive the mailbox or do something under the data and compliance (think it's called that)on the office 365 admin portal
psydii Posted February 12, 2018 Posted February 12, 2018 For the moment, we just disable them and leave them with an A1 licence which leaves their data intact Moving forward we’ll be exploring tools from the EMS licence to capture data that needs lo be retained, and then be more proactive in removing the user mailboxes.
abaxter2 Posted February 12, 2018 Posted February 12, 2018 We do the same currently: disable the account but leave the account with a "A1" license. Also looking at other options moving forward.
kevin_lane Posted February 12, 2018 Posted February 12, 2018 I believe veeam has a facility to connect to office 365 which might do what you need it to do
mariohi Posted March 13, 2018 Posted March 13, 2018 After trying litigation hold we found that the best way is to covert leavers mailboxes to shared mailboxes. Reasons: no need for exchange licenses, can be stored indefinitely, you can share the mailboxes with new employees if needed to retrieve emails. Account disabled.
tech-man Posted March 13, 2018 Posted March 13, 2018 Last time I looked at VEEAM and Office 365 you required a mortgage.
