Moving Shares to new drive issue

I am attempting to move some shares from one drive to another. I used to export the share info from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\lanmanserver\Shares, edit the file and then reimport to retain the share names etc. Changing the drive letter is not an option.

 

However when exporting now it exports in a hex format that does not show the share path in plain text therefore I cannot seem to be able to do a find/replace operation.

 

What am I doing wrong as I have done this in the past without issue.

Why not just move them and re-share them?

You can use robocopy to do this.

That’s what I did in the end.

 

Although Robocopy doesn’t do the re-sharing does it? I just used a net share command

No but it does copy over security
