DarrenShan Posted February 5, 2018 Posted February 5, 2018 I know that you can block specific file types from being synced down to a local machine if you are using Microsoft's sync tool, but if there a way to stop students uploading specific files, for example .exe's to their OneDrive from home?
AngryITGuy Posted February 5, 2018 Posted February 5, 2018 I came across the same dilemma when we set up or 365 tenant. I spoke to Microsoft and they told me that it can’t be done. I have set up alerts in the Security and Compliance Center to be notified each time someone uploads a file to OneDrive. Outlook filters these emails for me and flags up anything that contains thing like .vbs, .exe, .msi etc. It’s not an ideal solution but it works for us and our filtering policy to deny the download of exes is set higher than the allow so they can’t download the files anyway. 2
