We have a surplus of computer hard disk drives that Steve from IT has finished wiping all the data from. As they are still usable, but of no use to Kent Wildlife Trust, he thought he would see if any members of staff or volunteers would like any, in return for a small donation to KWT.

 

He has various capacities available from 160 gigabytes (GB) to 500 GB, in both 2.5 inch (usually laptop) and 3.5 inch (usually PC) sizes. They are various brands, but most are Seagate or Western Digital. They are in a used condition, but perfectly functional. However, there is no way to tell how long they will continue to work, so they are sold without warranty.

 

For that reason, Steve thinks a price of 2p per GB is fair. For example a 160 GB HDD would be £3.20p, and a 500 GB HDD would be £10.

I imagine postage costs would be extra, however if you are further afield I don't mind picking up and sorting postage with you if they're not keen.

Obviously must have been a typo of 500 GB on their part.

I really hope he did a proper professional wipe and didn't just hit delete or quick format. Personally I prefer the drill but suppose can't sell that at 2p per gb.

Wouldn't giving the hard drive to a computer recycling place be more appropriate
