Mac user authentication across domains in a trust relationship

Hi,

 

I am trying to get a macbook to authenticate the user across 2 domains that have a trust relationship set up.

 

Domain A (DA) and Domain B (DB)

DA has a trust relationship with DB - User from DB who is at DA site and on windows computer at DA can login using credentials from DB - but can't seem to do the same with a macbook

macbook is bound to DA

 

Have searched internet for clues - but nothing useful. Wondered if anybody has managed it with or without any 3rd party software?

I did this once a long time ago, 2003 Server I think? As I remember you had to make sure the mac workstations themselves (not just users) were trusted (or appeared in the relevant OU) in the second domain. As OS X is a non-Microsoft OS you may have to jump through a few more hoops than you would normally do if the OS was native. Probably not applicable in your environment but something you can quickly check.

 

Other possibilities you could look at is if the the tick box for "Allow Authentication from All Domains" is checked. On an affected Mac what does the following Terminal command show?

 

dsconfigad -show
