jonnykewell1 Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 (edited) Good Morning, We seem to be having an issue with Office 365 email in Internet explorer which seems to be becoming more wide spread. When the users open their Inbox and click on 'New' the pop up page that opens is just blank. You see the the 'opening your mailbox' picture and blue line for a split second and then the page is just blank. It won't allow users to create new emails and it also does the same when double clicking on a new email to read the content. Some users are on 8.1 and 7 and the browser version is 11. If we use Google Chrome or Firefox then we have no issues at all. If you change the reading pane to 'Type in reading pane' then everything works fine. Has anyone got any ideas? ColonelPanic Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 Hi Jonny, Do you guys have SMART Notebook installed? Try uninstalling the Smart Ink software from the control panel, and see if it helps, we had a very similar issue back when we hosted exchange on-site. CP
jonnykewell1 Posted January 30, 2018 Author Posted January 30, 2018 Hi CP, thanks for the reply. Some machines do have smart ink but others don't by looking at it so sadly I don't think it's that. I'm wondering if it's something to do with how the tabbed browsing works. I've had it where I can type in office.outlook.com in the first tab and it work fine but when opening the exact same URL from our Intranet page shortcut it decides not to work. Thanks, Jonny
ZeroHour Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 I'm wondering if it's something to do with how the tabbed browsing works. I've had it where I can type in office.outlook.com in the first tab and it work fine but when opening the exact same URL from our Intranet page shortcut it decides not to work. Does the link open https://office.outlook.com directly or open a page that redirects? It should switch security context properly though as it will go from Intranet security (aka slacker) to Internet in IE.
jonnykewell1 Posted January 30, 2018 Author Posted January 30, 2018 This link from our intranet goes to: https://outlook.office.com/owa/?realm=ourdomain.sch.uk
ZeroHour Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 Try hitting F12 in the popup window then do a refresh and see if the console gives any clues. It does kind of smell of an ActiveX issue, what AV do you use?
jonnykewell1 Posted January 30, 2018 Author Posted January 30, 2018 I'll have a look now cheers. We use ESET Endpoint Anti Virus.
NB9457 Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 One that's worked for me in the past is to try inprivate browsing, if it works, it shows that something is corrupt/not right with cached settings/cookies/etc and we often found clearing IE settings would resolve the issue.
jonnykewell1 Posted January 30, 2018 Author Posted January 30, 2018 (edited) Thanks for all responses so far. Just to update if I manually type in https://outlook.office.com/owa in IE it actually works but if I click the shortcut on our Intranet which points to the same url it doesn't. I have tried In private browsing and that too seemed to work. It doesn't seem to be for all users although it does gradually seem to be becoming more wide spread around school. It's puzzling me that's for sure. I've not tried the F12 option but the pop up that opens doesn't seem to like to be refreshed by the looks of it and I can't tell if when I click the url and press enter if it's actually doing anything.
