VPN with 2FA

Hi All

 

We have a Smoothwall S8 appliance as our gateway/filter/firewall which we also use for VPN remote access for a limited number of users.

 

I'd really like to enable 2FA for VPN connections which to my knowledge Smoothwall doesn't support. (can you confirm @tom_newton ?)

 

Has anyone found a good alternative VPN solution that does support 2FA?

Windows VPN does, no idea how good it is though, I have never used it myself.

One way you could do this is with a small sophos xg appliance with network licence only - in line. Xg can do 2fa ssl/IPSec thru a free app or google authenticate etc. Not the ideal solution to add an extra device but effective and not expensive.

ISTR making 2 fac work with Duo security years ago - so it may well be possible. What's your preferred 2-fac poison?
