No Logon Servers / Temporary Profile

Hi guys,

 

I'm still familiarizing myself with the network I'm working on (GPOs and what not), however I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

 

Normally when a student user tries to log into a Windows 7 PC with no network connection, they will receive the error "No Logon Servers Available". I've now noticed this is no longer the case. Instead of receiving that error, they are able to log on to the machine with a temporary profile - which will enable them to tinker with settings not locked down via GPO.

 

Does any one know how I may go about reverting this? I'd like them to see the "No Logon Servers Available" error if a cable is unplugged.

 

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Do you have the following policy set on PCs:

Computer\Policies\Admin Templates\ System/Logon\Always wait for the network at computer startup and logon

 

I'm sure that should stop it from happening

Thanks for your reply, at least I know where to look for this setting now. It was enabled, so part of me is wondering if the students are doing the 'ol cable trick' where they unplug the network connection whilst group policies are applying during the login phase. I'll have to investigate further but I really appreciate your response, thank you.

Try this one: Computer Configuration\Policies\Admin Templates\System\User Profiles\Do not logon users with temporary profiles

there is also a gpo computer config/admin templates/system/user profiles/do not log users on with a temporary profile

 

set that to yes and it shouldnt allow temp profiles at all
