I hope this isn't the start of them starting to charge for services....

A lot is already charged for. We are already paying for the Google Cloud Platform and management of Chromebook devices.

It looks like will just be adding new features to their premium services.

Seen a few emails being sent out for this today. It certainly feels like the thin end of the wedge where schools are going to eventually be forced into a paid subscription model for the features they require in MS and Google's cloud services.

 

I guess it was always obvious that they were only offering it free for now to entice schools into using Gsuite/Office365 so they could charge them for it at some point in future.

I agree, although could Google be under the (false) impression that education doesn't need the extra features so doesn't even bother offering them for free?
