SwedishChef Posted January 15, 2018 Posted January 15, 2018 My VP asked me to research a software solution today that sits on top of Gmail, it allows better integration between parent and teacher and uses sims for it's data, and email sources. He said it reminds staff when they need to communicate with the parent...just wondered if anyone knows's a product that does this?
rogerdnixon Posted January 15, 2018 Posted January 15, 2018 I suggest you use Google Classroom. We sync from SIMS to classroom (few scheduled reports and GAM). We also populate the Guardians on Classroom using GAM and a SIMS report. Makes it easy for staff to contact parents and parents get daily/weekly notifcations of set assignements. So you have everything you need is G Suite really. I've documented most of what we have done on my blog: https://wpsit.blogspot.co.uk/2017/07/how-to-provision-google-classroom-using.html 1

rogerdnixon Posted January 16, 2018 Posted January 16, 2018 Surely it will take more than that to organise teachers??? Well, it depends on exactly what you are trying to achieve. Classroom communicates with parents automatically and offers up easy communication between staff, parents, and students. We auto populate staff and student calendars with there timetables, auto-generate Classrooms and keep them upto date - not sure what more is needed (I teach as well). We also help people with their Google Sites and managing Team Drives when they need it. I do do a staff induction session to get people familiar with all the G Suite tools - this includes showing people how to use Gmail effectively and manage things like Classroom notifications.

I think@mikeprice was being provocative about teachers and questioning their organisational skills. Which he can do as he also is a former teacher [emoji6] 1

Hi Roger we already have classroom embedded across all of our curriculum, I think this is more for personal organisation. I've asked him to get the name of the product from the person who mentioned it to him
