Call me a bit of out date with the services that are being offered, but what exactly is it? :p Guessing this one from the logos? https://www.gdpr.school/

Steve

Hi Steve,

GDPR in Schools is a complete data protection monitoring solution designed to help schools comply with the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation coming into force this May. If you'd like any further information or a demo please DM me.

So from the unlinked website I've discovered it uses the word Solution a lot, and has no prices, 2 things that scare me off.

Would be useful if it said what it actually did. And if the website actually indicated which words were html links, with, I dunno, underlines or a colour.

I received a quote from them last week. Prices are in line with the quotes from the local authority approved company.

Have to admit, having nosed around the software I'm not hugely impressed - It feels very beta-ish at the moment with very few suppliers listed. Would hold off for the time being personally.

For access to the cloud based platform with resources for governance the price from GDPRiS was

School with

110 pupils £195.00

315 pupils £295.00

This is per year on a 3 year contract. They also offered services in training, ongoing compliance, DPO service, etc. All at additional costs.

Our local authority have an audit company who are doing the same kind of support as the platform, on an annual contract and this works out slightly more expensive than GDPRiS, but LA company offers 2 training sessions per year as well as a number of hours assisting with SARs and Assest Maintenance.

We are leaning more toward the LA audit company, having already bought into their audit package.

Personally I don't like the fact that there is not a single screenshot of the product on the website, I like to see the product in the first instance not necessarily go to all the trouble of having to sit through a demo before deciding if it holds any interest for me.

Any product that forces me to have a demo to see it does not get a second glance. Just my 2 cents.

Evening folks. I’m more than happy to respond to questions and queries but please bring them directly to me as this is not really the most appropriate thread.

We have been using demos rather than video introductions as most schools have wanted to ask a raft of questions at the same time. Because we also work through partners, it gives them a fair opportunity to talk with you as well.

Partners also work on other aspects to support schools so if we can refrain from sharing quotes here ... it is not the best place to do so.

We appreciate the feedback and I’m more than happy to talk to anyone who would like to know more about additional features we are adding.

I look forward to seeing you all at BETT.

I feel you're slightly missing the point there Grumble, while I appreciate the comment about quotes, it still doesn't change the fact it seems a lot of us really have no idea what it is.. There's not even a website linked to the news post, and going on the one I mentioned assuming that is the one this relates to the website still doesn't really give any further information on it apart from it's a "insert shiny word" solution to GDPR.

For a website that likes to use the phrase "Simple & Intuitive" I feel you guys really have one of the most confusing and least informative based website's going recently.... An example (from random page) is "Design & Usability 91%" Is this a review someone's given? Does it mean it's not finished being built yet? Does it only fulfil 91% of what we need to do for compliance?

If for example (random numbers here) the Supplier List only has 2 companies in because none of the rest have signed up/agreed to work with you, it would be nice to know some of these things before being forced to book in for demos etc to even have an idea of what it is you're getting etc.

Just my two cents,

Steve

I saw a demo yesterday and I thought it was a brilliant start to getting ready for GDPR. My view was that it would enable us to stand a chance of being ready for GDPR. We can then concentrate on the IT specific things like encryption of laptop and non use of Memory sticks. Please could we have some quick videos Tony of the product well may be after BETT?

That wasn't far off the number on the demo I saw... I think if the website listed companies/products already had information for that would help make an informed choice - As I say the idea seems sounds & something I definitely want but wasn't quite there yet.

The demo site is on a staged area, so you only see example suppliers. On the live site we have several hundred listed, have just released additional editing tools as well as improving how you manage your own systems.

We’ll work with partners on the video suggestion after BETT.

It may be best to take other ideas to a new thread, as we are grateful for all feedback but I can see it spiralling and making this thread Off Topic.

Let me chat with the mods on getting a group together where we can chat in depth. After all EG groups are a hand tool for this sort of conversation.

We have just purchased into the product and we are having issues with it. As above, there is a huge list of supplier although there is a few missing from the list that we need. Currently adding suppliers isn't functioning properly for us, when we add new ones it deletes our old ones.

Also each time you click on the supplier page, it provides you with a huge scrolling page that you need to go all the way to the bottom and click next to see the suppliers you have already added.
