Anyone in a MAT running SCCM?

If so, I'm curious about how you have it configured.

 

Do you have a CAS then a primary site per school or do you have a primary site covering all of your schools then break it up using boundaries and boundary groups? Why did you choose the configuration that you're using?

I'm not a school. But I have two main sites and several satellite offices all glued together with MPLS, so I suppose it's a similar setup network wise.

 

I only have one site. I do however have a DP at each office. I use a per office boundary and use the bandwidth controls to stop my MPLS links getting saturated during office hours.

We're still rolling stuff out but out setup is a single primary site, then a DP/MP and boundaries/boundary groups.

 

With the scale we work at, there's just no need for a specific site set up at each school.

As above, across four schools we have a single primary site, and DPs etc. at each school in seperate boundaries

We have 1 large SCCM site and then a DP at each physical schools. Makes it much easier to manage and less complicated. I can't see why you need an SCCM site at each school.

To be honest, the reasons are more political than they are technical. I don’t particularly want to go the CAS route but I may have to.

When I did my sccm 2012 training I was told only consider a cas if you plan to go over 100k devices. I'd just go single site with a dp mp at each one

The only reason to have a CAS is if you are >100k clients. i.e. scaling.

 

Also be aware that your licensing costs will increase.
