Google Chrome V 63 hangs when on Windows 10 machine

I'm running W10 1709 on a school laptop I use for working from home. Google Chrome has been my preferred browser and has been working fine until about a week ago. I kept having to run the Chrome://Flags routine to Enable / Disable the Rapport aspect that has been known to create problems. Having had to do that several times I took the plunge and upgraded Chrome to V: 63.0.3239.108 and after the restart had all sorts of issues.

 

In a nutshell Chrome seems to be causing the whole laptop to lock up.

 

Eventually I had to do some netsh work and finding Chrome was still being a total pain have now reverted to the horrid Edge Browser which several web sites I visit don't like!

 

Anyone else having similar issues?

 

Our AV / Security package is Cetral Sophos with Intercept X.

I had similar few months back on my home PC i had to uninstall chrome, restarted and reinstalled and it's been fine since!

 

If that doesn't work, the new Firefox is supposed to be decent!
