3s-gtech Posted December 20, 2017 Posted December 20, 2017 Commonwealth Games: Birmingham set to host 2022 event - BBC Sport Great news! Greatly enjoyed going to Glasgow for the 2014 games and to London for the 2017 World Athletics Championships - got no excuses not to head over to Brum! Plus the improvement in facilities and infrastructure, congratulations to them.
elsiegee40 Posted December 20, 2017 Posted December 20, 2017 We’re looking forward to it too. We thoroughly enjoyed Glasgow:)
foofighterjim Posted December 20, 2017 Posted December 20, 2017 Will be interesting as the local infrastructure here currently struggles to handle the current capacity of just over 12,000. They will probably have to destroy Perry park to accommodate the stadium expansion, provide enough parking and upgrade Church Road. Maybe this will kick Highways England to sort out the mess that is J7 of the M6 though. Still good news for the local economy, do I trust Birmingham City Council to get it right though? ..................... NOPE!
3s-gtech Posted December 20, 2017 Author Posted December 20, 2017 I agree - J7 is a mess with that wonky roundabout thing and Perry Park doesn't cope that well with traffic (or parking)! I can see an element of the cost being used to make urban freeways etc through there.
