What version of W10 are you currently running?

That setting is only to block the Microsoft Windows Update site, it doesn't disable WSUS. The setting can be found here in Group Policy.

Administrative Templates --> Windows Components --> Windows Update --> Remove Access To Use All Windows Update Features

 

That would be why if I change that to 0 it goes off to look for updates and downloads from MS

 

Got to be setting somewhere is wsus or gp that’s making error out on wsus

Mix of 1703 and 1709

 

Although one of the 1709 machines have blocked me from going in to settings :s

For the 1703 machine, what is its current patch level? We had a number of Windows 10 1703 PCs (deployed from SCCM using an image that was unpatched) and noticed they had not been updating from WSUS. We then manually applied a cumulative update from July and then they all seemed to be fine after that and have been patching fine since. Our situation is a bit different however because our staff PCs running 1703 are fine, but the lab PCs that were not patching have Deep Freeze installed on them. Deep Freeze is in control of Windows Updates and is pointed to our WSUS server.

Ok, so that is the July cumulative. If you want to test a theory, try installing the August or September cumulative update manually (download from Windows Update Catalog), and then see if it updates properly from your WSUS afterwards.

Just updated a machine to Oct CU and still errors out. :/

Updated to V1709 and i dont get any error messages when searching for updates. (i've approved the latest update due to the CPU fix)

 

Not coming back with any updates. (older machines are picking up office updates but not OS updates)

I’ll have a look. Worth a try. Just seems odd that it won’t find Windows 10 on a workstation. But will find and download office updates.
