Hi all

Over the past few days we have noticed that the quick access and documents shortcuts are not working correctly. In our environment they are mapped via GPO to the users home folder on a file server, the top level of each maps and you can see all the files and folders however you are unable to open any of the folders. The work around is to go directly to the mapped drive (H in our case) and then all files and folders work correctly. This is affecting only some of our staff users and on occasions a restart does fix the issue but not all the time.

The client pcs are running win 10 the file server is 2012r2.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi

Just an update.

Had some more tests carried out (thanks to Ash Green) and narrowed it down to a DFS issue:

use of DFSUTIL cache flush commands as administrator instantly fixes the issue without a reboot required.

The work round I have adopted is; in Group policy I changed the redirected folder paths to use

literal server UNC paths rather than DFS name paths. The issue does not seem to affect the most recent build of win10 so long term I will upgrade the client pcsI still have not got to the route of the issue, all tests run show no errors or setup mistakes however the above work around works so for the time being I will run with that.

Hope this helps anyone else with a similar problem.
