  9. Hi Just an update. Had some more tests carried out (thanks to Ash Green) and narrowed it down to a DFS issue: use of DFSUTIL cache flush commands as administrator instantly fixes the issue without a reboot required. The work round I have adopted is; in Group policy I changed the redirected folder paths to use literal server UNC paths rather than DFS name paths. The issue does not seem to affect the most recent build of win10 so long term I will upgrade the client pcsI still have not got to the route of the issue, all tests run show no errors or setup mistakes however the above work around works so for the time being I will run with that. Hope this helps anyone else with a similar problem.
  10. Hi all Over the past few days we have noticed that the quick access and documents shortcuts are not working correctly. In our environment they are mapped via GPO to the users home folder on a file server, the top level of each maps and you can see all the files and folders however you are unable to open any of the folders. The work around is to go directly to the mapped drive (H in our case) and then all files and folders work correctly. This is affecting only some of our staff users and on occasions a restart does fix the issue but not all the time. The client pcs are running win 10 the file server is 2012r2. Any help would be appreciated. Rob
  11. I have done some investigation and have posted my findings on this forum: active directory user profile path problem - Spiceworks Thanks for the help
  12. Servers appear to be replicating fine.
  13. can anyone shed any light on this problem? our PDCe is running server 2008, (physical server) we have two 2012 servers running hyperV, on each of these we have a DC on a VM running server 2012r2: so 3 DCs 1 on 2008 2 on 2012r2 Our schema and function level are currently as high as 2008 will allow (we recently demoted a 2003 dc and then raised the level) We have not noticed any problems after we raised the level and removed the 2003 server until about four weeks later. the problem we have is that the active directory user profile path (AD users and computers username properties) changes to another users path thus preventing the user from logging on. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
  14. Success... It appears that the NIC drivers for my HP Proliant had an update that would only work using server 2012 not 2012r2 when applied replication works as it should do to another 2012 server. I have discovered that replication can not go from a 2012r2 host to a 2012 host but will work the other way round (OK unless you want to failover) I have also discovered that you can not migrate vms from a 2012r2 host to a 2012 host. If the os of your vm is linux based then you can create a new vm on a 2012 host and attach the vhdx however if it is a windows os then this will not work. So I have now downgraded my servers both to 2012 updated the drivers on my HP (the other is a Dell) . I have also rebuilt all my vms (they are using 2012r2). see also spiceworks and technet Thanks for all your suggestions. Rob
