I want to duplicate our AD in a test environment. I've run a full backup using wbadmin -allcritical and can restore it another server no issues. However after changing the DHCP IP to the servers proper IP and rebooting I still cannot access AD Users and computer or anything AD related.

DNS is working OK - lists everything, and an NSLOOKUP works for the DC and any other DNS entries.

I've tried flushdns, registerdns eeven rebo

If I right click in AD users and computers and choose select domain it shows but doesn't load and get 'could not locate the domain' - or the server is not operational

What other steps are required as this should be a bare metal restore. All FSMO roles were on this server.

If I choose connect to another domain controller and type the server name in, it will show was Online but no other fields populate and still cannot access AD.

Is this physical or virtual? If virtual I’d just take a copy of a virtual DC VHD and create a VM using it in your test environment
