My wife’s gran has had a flip video recorder for years and it’s becoming a bit temperamental and was looking for suggestions for a simple to use replacement. Do I replace it for another flip? She is 86 years old.

Appreciate suggestions

Whatever you choose make sure it has good large clear buttons

The fashion for buttons that are the same colour as the background is not great for people whose vision may no longer be 20/20. Similarly, LCD display may be easier for her to read than LED.

If she has videos that she loves watching then whatever she has needs to contain a video player (or you spend a fortune on DVDs)

The reality is that you might be tempted by new technology, but she knows and understands what she had.

We replaced a radio for my husband’s Nan and the clearly defined buttons were the biggest hit. She didn’t want anything else; just a radio.
