Any PDQ Deploy users experiencing slow downloads with version 15?

Do you guys use the free version of PDQ Deploy or have you paid for Enterprise? Is Enterprise worth the cost?

We use the paid version, worth every penny in my opinion, use it to deploy a multitude of different software including Office 2016 as well as deploy scripts, install fonts and other stuff.

I pay for Enterprise here and it's worth every penny (cent). I know I moaned in this thread that the auto approve system was a pain, but I soon got the hang of it.

 

Setup properly it's just install and forget for all key updates/patches/software. Yes there are other solutions, yes you can do it for free in SCCM but I would rather pay someone else £380 p/a to do all the work than have to sit down and write install scripts, update file versions etc myself.

Another +1 for enterprise. Adobe / Google is just updated with no input from me. When I reimage a machine it grabs all the latest versions from PDQ + the latest CU. So my machines are fully patched and updated when the TS is done.

I got the Enterprise version from @AJWhite1970's recommendation and after seeing him demo it while I was at his school - great piece of kit, never regretted it... I didn't bother trying the free version as I'd heard what the advantages were (though I can't remember the difference now)

I do love the software, however we cannot justify the renewal price for us three in the office so cannot get the latest packages. Has forced me to get 99% of our software now installed via Group Policy, which makes reimaging machines that much easier. For doing one off deployments PDQ Deploy works like a dream! I've played with PDQ Inventory but never purchased it. Does what it says on the tin, but I use GLPI for free which also has things like toners, printers, projectors, non ict devices etc as well as the usual PC inventory

I have both. I would recommend it. Inventory is how deploy knows what computers need updated. You can also link to spice works inventory.

Inventory is what I have open all day. I can search for a computer by name and with a few clicks or key combos have event logs RDP or a remote support session.

We use both here Enterprise versions....been using it for quite a number of years in fact I think I posted on here about it many times...great piece of kit...

 

Cheap as chips for what you get also.....

I already have Netsupport DNA for inventory and remote support so couldn't justify another paid product to do the same.

To clarify PDQ doesn't to remote support directly. It has tools / shortcuts to windows RA and RDP. The paid version allows you to create your own tools. I have created tools to open SCCM RC LAPS etc.

I'm the opposite. I can't justify DNA with what I already have.

 

I suspect many of the auto update / deployment features won't work entirely as expected.

You can always update the version number in the free version.

But it's been so long since I have tried the free version I forget what is free or not.

 

I used to create packages and collections myself. It was nice when they made the collection library.

 

I'd be interested to talk to you about your setup further. It sounds like our schools are similar in size / setup.

Get the free version of both and see how it works for you, request a trial of the full version.

I'll send a PM shortly, but I just reread this thread, and watched the DNA overview video. What do you think PDQ does that DNA doesn't, they have a software deployment module?
