garethEds Posted November 16, 2017 Posted November 16, 2017 Evening all, I wonder if there is anyone out there that runs AIT's pCounter software (v2.87) on a HyperV server (2012r2) with Konica Monolta MFDs? If so - do you see any issues with speed when logging on with your passcode, choosing a department and then releasing your work? The initial authentication takes a long time and despite upgrading our KM software and pCounter Embedded I think KM are going to blame the network - which it could be. We've had our reprographics room re-wired and this is being finished tomorrow with new switches etc. It wasn't wired very well a few years ago. SO this will take out that element of the connection. Our MFDs are running at 1Gbit to the server through the switches. The one other thing I want to check is the Hyperv container for pCounter - how would I go about checking that this is running fine? It works, and the server itself is responsive enough with no lag. It's just when accessing it from the MFD console/keypad. Any advice welcome. Thanks Gareth
MatthewL Posted November 17, 2017 Posted November 17, 2017 Do you have the windows firewall enabled on your server? Also do you have the anti virus exceptions in for PCounter?
rich_tech Posted November 17, 2017 Posted November 17, 2017 Firmware on the mfds may need upgrading with the pCounter version, going by previous there, I would say check KM support the version too, if you upgrade it and they have known issues they might suggest a downgrade (that happened before there)
Steve21 Posted November 17, 2017 Posted November 17, 2017 (edited) Edit - Doh I can't read in the morning it seems.... Not pcounter but papercut we've just had a replacement recently and new MFD contract in, (rebadged KMs) and it's very slow to to get to actually print something. It's like (we scan badges) but oh you're logging in... wait wait wait maybe, no, wait wait login! yay select print.. wait wait Worked fine on hyperV before with old machines was pretty instant, doesn't work fine with new ones. So would more than likely blame the machines personally Steve Edited November 17, 2017 by Steve21

Evening @MatthewL - thanks for the advice. I've turned the firewalls off and taken off the AV for now for testing. Gareth

Logging onto the MFDs is a nightmare, but it was a bit quicker today now that we've had it all re-wired. However it is still slow from putting in your 4 digit key code, to listing your departments to getting to the Copy/Scan etc screen on the MFD panel. We've upgraded our KME to 4.2.3 - but no change in speed really, but a lot more options than 3.2.1 The ping from server to printers is as expected. Steve Breeze is working on this with us. Gareth
rich_tech Posted November 18, 2017 Posted November 18, 2017 If he's involved, its likely because it is firmware related (KM use their own versions of counter firmwares iirc for some reason), that server shouldn't have any issues with the software
