Our student computers are locked down to such an extent they are unable to install drivers via plug and play. This becomes very annoying when they decide to unplug any usb devices such as keyboards and mice which then fail to work when plugged back in.

We have to login using the domain admin account in order for it to install the required drivers through windows update.

They've now become wise to this and are using it as an excuse for not getting on with their work!

Can anybody tell me how to resolve this please?

iirc you can specify specific types of devices you dont need to be an admin to install via group policy add kb/mouse/human interface devices to that list possibly

Not a valid 'excuse' Why unplug the devices in the first place? [They unplug them here too. It drives me MAD!]
