My 2008 server seems to have self destructed - despite the network connections showing in the device manager as installed and correct drivers loaded, nothing shows in the Network Connections page, and their are no active connections.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled the network cards, and even tried a different one altogether but something else must be away, as I can't restart/stop the Network Connections service either!

Is there a way to rebuild the network connections from scratch?

I've uninstalled and reinstalled the nics many times, and even added an seperate nic (with the on board ones disabled)

Best I can get is the connections showing, but there is not active network connection. The Network Connection service is running but can't be stopped or restarted. Nothing really showing in the logs apart from expected messages that theres no network connection available for various services.

Its like the network connections component is broken - which means the server is a dead box now!
