We currently have Moodle users syncing with AD and we create new accounts for our network which then get access to Moodle. Currently we create new accounts for visitors but I was under the impression that they needed access to our network which I've just found out is not required. Now I just want to check here before I make a suggestion. If accounts are being synced with AD does that mean that you can still manually create a new user in Moodle? What I want to move to is rather than create multiple accounts in AD I would like visitor accounts to be created in Moodle. Is this possible?

Our Moodle is a bit out of date (Moodle2) but yes we can create "just" a Moodle user by going through Site Administration\Users\Accounts\Add a new user and then selecting "choose the authentication method" as a "Manual account", this is not checked against AD when the user logs in.

This is what I thought, but wanted to make sure Moodle didn't do something odd like prevent manual account creation if it was syncing with AD.

Thanks
