FN-GM Posted October 23, 2017 Posted October 23, 2017 (edited) Hello, I would like to install some SSD's into some Dell Optiplex 9020 AIO machines. The drives in them are desktop size and they sit in a cage. The hole for the connectors on only 1 side of the cage, so I need an adapter / bracket that positions the drive to one site not in the middle. I ordered some of these but when they arrived the holes are not in the same place as the picture and the drive would be mounted in the middle of the bracket. So they are unless to us. Metal 2016 SSD Bracket 2.5" to 3.5" Adapter Hard Drive Mounting Holder HDD Hot | eBay Can anyone help find something please? Preferably something as cheap as possible. Thanks Edited October 23, 2017 by FN-GM
AJWhite1970 Posted October 23, 2017 Posted October 23, 2017 SSD's are so light compared to an old drive we just used double sided Velcro on some of our machines to fix them in place when the holes didn't line up....
ShellfishClive Posted October 23, 2017 Posted October 23, 2017 Even if you can line up one screw hole you could just screw that in and then like AJ said just you Velcro or something to keep it in place.
FN-GM Posted October 23, 2017 Author Posted October 23, 2017 I had considered that, but I don't really want to do that. I would rather have a proper bracket.
Arthur Posted October 23, 2017 Posted October 23, 2017 NewerTech's AdaptaDrive bracket will have the holes in the correct location (same as 3.5" drive) but it is a lot more expensive. http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B005PZDVF6
FN-GM Posted October 23, 2017 Author Posted October 23, 2017 Might as well go for this - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Corsair-Hard-drive-bracket-CSSD-BRKT1-Black/dp/B0090UG55A/ref=sr_1_14?ie=UTF8&qid=1508788816&sr=8-14&keywords=ssd+bracket I will see what prices the suppliers can do.
Arthur Posted October 23, 2017 Posted October 23, 2017 Do you have a 3D printer? If so, this might do the job... https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:34808
Geoff Posted October 24, 2017 Posted October 24, 2017 We use these for our Optiplex 760s. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mounting-Adapter-Bracket-Drive-Holder/dp/B00OCBB56Q/ref=pd_lpo_vtph_147_lp_t_3

steveg Posted October 24, 2017 Posted October 24, 2017 https://www.ebuyer.com/614165-corsair-ssd-mounting-bracket-cssd-brkt1 Not very cheap though for what it is. Steve
Domino Posted October 24, 2017 Posted October 24, 2017 adhesive Velcro spots? it's not like they're gonna vibrate...
SamanthaD Posted October 24, 2017 Posted October 24, 2017 OP might want to look at this forum post? https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/693512-what-adapter-will-properly-mount-a-2-5-ssd-in-a-standard-optiplex-3-5-caddy
Bedders Posted October 24, 2017 Posted October 24, 2017 We mount SSD's using double-sided Velcro and masking tape where velcro seems insufficient. It was done this way when I started, and I'm finding them mounted to some inventive places within our Dell Optiplex 745 boxes! Never had one fall out of a case yet
FN-GM Posted October 24, 2017 Author Posted October 24, 2017 Ordered some of these from a supplier at £2.50 each https://www.amazon.co.uk/Corsair-Hard-drive-bracket-CSSD-BRKT1-Black/dp/B0090UG55A/ref=sr_1_14?ie=UTF8&qid=1508788816&sr=8-14&keywords=ssd+bracket
