coconurtaler Posted October 17, 2017 Posted October 17, 2017 (edited) Hi, what is the best way to give head of department e.g. Maths, access to all other Maths teacher's classes to be able to add grades for an absent teacher. I don't really want to add the hod to each class as we have about 8 classes x 5 year groups and would have to do that for other subjects too. The moderator screens are not so easy to look at and they can't seem to add grades to empty cells although they can change grades already entered. The best way I have found so far is have a hod role which has view and enter permissions for all screens but they can see and edit all subjects not just their own. Any other ideas? Thanks Edited October 17, 2017 by coconurtaler

Thanks The only other way to do it would be to have separate assessment screens for standard teachers and then the Heads of Department. And you'd need a separate screen for each department to prevent them being able to enter into all subjects. Honestly though; just give them the access to do all subjects. Heck, I long ago gave teachers that right and have never had a problem stemming from it; it just makes it all run much more smoothly when one of them is sick or something and the others need to enter data for them.
Banjo Posted October 18, 2017 Posted October 18, 2017 You can also add maths (subjects) as the Course Link in the templates. If the person is set up as coordinator (HOD) they get to see all their marksheets for their subjects.
coconurtaler Posted October 18, 2017 Author Posted October 18, 2017 Thank you for that. I have done this for head of Maths and English so far and it seems to be working. We will get there in the end, it is just knowing the best way to set things up as the manuals are not all that great. Cheers.

The SIMS manuals are quite good, but like most, are technical, rather than good practice 'How to' based. At least Capita produce manuals for SIMS, you pay x30+ times more in AM fee's for ONE, but don't get a manual. You do however get a Capita 'Knowledge Specialist' @ £1000+ per day !!
coconurtaler Posted October 18, 2017 Author Posted October 18, 2017 Thank you, however we are now Progresso not SIMS.
