The sound of stars colliding

This has just come though on the BBC this afternoon.

Scientists have observed two neutron stars colliding and it has provided them with some very interesting data including the 'sound' it made*

Apparently it also finally explains how gold is made! (Didn't realise it was a bona fide mystery)
