This is the tagline for Dead Blonde Stars new(ish) EP Resolution. I have to say on first listen it is scary how much the vocals resemble the late Chris Cornell, but they are far from a cheap imitation.

Although not Grunge checkout the truly awesome new album by Amplifier - Trippin' With Dr Faustus on the same site. They kindly gave me a free download for the Dead Blonde Stars EP when I brought TWDF on vinyl. It is easily their best album since The Octopus was released in 2011 and well worth a listen.

I'm a big alice in chains fan, but soundgarden never really did it for me.

 

I worked with Amplifier some years ago and still have a few of their early demos. Great sound, clever use of fx boards and different amps. Lovely people too.

Amplifier are just one of those bands that appear destined to always be on the periphery, although I suspect that they quite like it that way. Saw them a few years back and they were just mingling with everyone whilst the support act was playing, they really are just normal people doing what they love to do despite everything.

 

I was / am a big fan of all the bands listed. I remember Stone Temple Pilots being criticised for being an Alice in Chains rip off in the 90's, to me that was like criticising Ford for making the front of the Fiesta and Focus look a bit like an Aston Martin!

Yeah they've always been good lads.

 

I remember one year they got to open the main stage at download and it was wonderful.

 

They were as bemused about how they got there as were half of the hardcore metalhead crowd!

I found a band called Teenage Wrist pretty good! Although described as post-grunge, might be relevant.
